Police and Crime Commissioner Annual Update

To receive an annual update from the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.

Minutes:

The Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) congratulated Committee on continuing to hold an annual event. The PCC updated and provided an overview of their role as Deputy. The Deputy PCC advised the Gloucestershire Police and Crime Prevention Plan 2021-2025 had been published on 19 January 2022, it was developed from the PCC’s manifesto commitments and through consultation events. The Deputy PCC outlined the 6 priorities within the plan which included:

  • Creating safer Communities – tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
  • Tackling violence against women and girls
  • Strengthening the Constabulary
  • Tackling the causes of crime
  • Supporting victims and reducing reoffending
  • Empowering local communities.

 

The Deputy PCC responded to Members questions on internal training to remove the culture of misogyny, what the Constabulary was doing to make Stroud safe for young women and girls and whether the crimes were reported as hate crimes, re-establishing the District Road Safety Liaison Groups, promoting/training Officers locally, financial support for community groups, county line drug gangs and knife crime, engagement with young people, mental health partnership working, statistics on number of killed and seriously injured from last few years from road accidents and whether the Rural Community Team still existed.

To appoint a lead and substitute representative to the Citizens Advice.

Minutes:

No nominations were received prior to the Committee meeting. The Chair informed Committee if no interest was expressed the seats would remain vacant until a nomination had been received or through annual appointments in June.

Citizens Advice

Minutes:

Councillor Hoskin advised Citizens Advice had welcomed two new trustees, that the current premises was not compatible with the business continuity plan and 3 proposals were outlined which included:

·         To tailor services to make it compatible,

·         Spend money on ventilation with Stroud District Council contributing to 50% of the cost

·         Find an alternative premises.

A new delivery programme had been developed with local hubs and discussion on their policies in ensuring GDPR compliance when home working.

The Chair reminded Committee of the need for the third performance monitor. Councillor Aldam asked for confirmation the meetings take place during working day. The Chair, Councillor Brine confirmed.

 

The Chair, Councillor Brine reminded Committee of the information session with the Director of Public Health at 6pm on Tuesday 25 January 2022.
